VertLabs didn't start in a boardroom. It started in a shared apartment, on a second-hand laptop, with three people who couldn't agree on what to order for dinner but somehow agreed on everything when it came to building software.
The founding team met during a game jam in 2021. Two developers and a designer, all working day jobs, all frustrated with how bloated and slow most mobile experiences had become. We kept asking the same question: why does something simple have to feel so heavy?
So we started building things on weekends. Small tools, browser plugins, lightweight games. Most of them went nowhere. A few of them didn't. One of them became Chicken Road — a project that began as a two-day experiment and turned into something we couldn't stop improving.
Today VertLabs is a small but focused studio. We still argue about dinner. We still build everything lean. And we still believe the best digital experiences are the ones that get out of your way and just work.
